The Arts Society Hallamshire members enjoy high quality monthly lectures, study days and private visits to galleries and historic houses.  All our events bring together friendly, like minded people and deepen our enjoyment of classical and modern works of art over a broad field.

The lectures are held on the third Wednesday in the month in Tapton Masonic Hall, Shore Lane, Sheffield. We organise day  outings to interesting places and overnight trips to various parts of the UK, visiting museums and historic buildings, often not normally open to the general public. Study Days allow for a more in-depth look at a topic and usually take the form of a guided visit, Informal social events including dinners, lunches and similar gatherings also feature in our programme.

Opportunities exist for members to volunteer to join in projects to preserve and document aspects of our cultural heritage in general and also, more specifically, to join the Church Recorders. The Arts Society also encourages us to foster the artistic development of young people through our Young Arts activities.

Each year, we produce and circulate a Newsletter which is in the form of an annual report.  From these, you can readily see the scope and scale of our activities. The most recent report is available here.

An archive of the last six years’ Newsletters is accessible here.
